Do You Really NEED A Mentor To Be Successful?

Do You Really NEED A Mentor To Be Successful?

In my humble opinion the answer to this is YES and I will tell you the reason why…

The late Jim Rohn (mentor to many of the personal development gurus such as Tony Robbins and Darren Hardy) said:

Jim Rohn

“You become the average of the five people you spend the most time with in all areas, mood, outlook, finance, character, body shape and importantly, your health!”

Now think carefully about the five people who you spend the most time with.

  • What do you do together?
  • What do you talk about?
  • What bonds you together?
  • How fit are they?
  • How successful are they?
  • How successful are you?
  • How happy are they?
  • How healthy is their future?

Now I am not saying you should suddenly stop hanging around with your current peer group however if you are truly serious about achieving success whether it be in your business, health, relationships, fitness or whatever endeavour you pursue, then you really need to think about this one…Ask yourself Do you want to be just like the people you spend the most time with? Do they inspire you? If the answer is ‘yes’  that’s great however, if the answer is no you may want to consider how much time you spend with these people, because inevitably you will become the average of the five people you spend the most time with.

What On Earth Has This Got To Do With Having A Mentor?!

Well let me give you an example…You love the internet and dream about having a successful Online Business however no matter how hard you try you do not seem to be able to make any money. Currently the five people you spend the most time with are your partner, your two best mates you have known since school and two colleagues from work, NONE of whom run a successful business on or offline.

So if the theory is true, the odds are stacked against you and it is highly unlikely that you will ever have a successful business if you continue to spend most of your time with these same five people. However make one of those five people a successful mentor or coach in your chosen niche, you are now putting yourself in a much more favourable position to succeed.

Success flourishes when we have that excited sense of possibility – surround yourself with people who make you feel good about yourself, who allow you to grow, flourish, blossom and affirm you as a winner. Choose people who have similar goals and aspirations and spend time with them. Something magical happens when you do this, the energy grows bigger as the whole is much greater than the sum of the parts.

So How Do You Choose A Mentor?

Choosing your mentor really depends on what you are trying to achieve at any given time. For example if you want to have an amazing relationship find someone who you believe already has one and model them! – the same applies to every other aspect of your life such as health, fitness and business. A mentor/coach does not necessarily have to be someone you pay, they could simply be someone you already know and respect and is already successful in the area of your life you want to improve.

Let me share my story with you…

Jay Roberts

Daegan Smith

Earlier this year I decided I needed to take MASSIVE ACTION in order to take my online business to the next level. The first step I took was to attend the first ever UK MLM Summit organised by a highly successful duo Jay Roberts (co-founder of the MLM Edge) and Rachael Macgregor. At the time I could not afford to go however I knew it was a MUST for me so I found a way and boy am I grateful I did!

At the Summit I had the privilege of meeting and learning from two Internet Marketing experts…The King Of Never Calling A Single Lead, Mr Daegan Smith and the lovely Diane Hochman. At the Summit it dawned on me that in order to become successful these were the people that I needed to surround myself with – successful people in my niche, with the integrity, knowledge and experience I so desperately craved…

Rachael Macgregor

Diane Hochman

Daegan has now been my mentor just over a month and I have learnt more than I ever imagined possible and have already seen my business grow – to say I am excited about the future would be an understatement BUT I want to make it clear that this has not happened by chance, this has happened because I decided to decide and took action.

So ask yourself today, are you spending time with the ones that will make a difference?

    Hi Emma,
In the network marketing industry the mentor is the integral part of the business which determines to a certain extend your success or failure. With a good portion of determination, being focued and a good mentor one should be successful with their business

I couldn’t agree more with you Emma! I have an amazing mentor/coach that has been in my life for the last 7 years. She has been an integral part of my success as she offers insight, guidance and an often different point of view that forces me to look at every decision very carefully.

Emma…that Summitt you attended was pretty amazing, I heard! You are so blessed to have been able to attend. I am in the process of looking at a few people to consider as mentors…and I am watching them carefully to see first how they handle others. I want to be in a really safe environment before I trust someone that much.

I have heard that Daegan is INCREDIBLE as a leader. How amazing to be able to work with him! Congrats to you on having someone in your life who helps you get RESULTS. That and treating people well are the bottom line, aren’t they? I will be watching your continued success in business! 🙂
